There's no one way of teaching

The Orton Gillingham approach is a practice that caters to the individual needs of each student.

Simultaneous VAKT

The approach facilitates student engagement through diverse sensory pathways—visual, auditory, and tactile-kinesthetic—enhancing both retention and retrieval of information. Lessons are repetitive and procedural.

Structured Language

This teaches how our language works by encompassing phonemic awareness, phonics, six basic syllable types, spelling patterns, and advanced morphology instruction (roots, prefixes, and suffixes).

Delivery of the Approach

The lessons are carefully planned and presented in a systematic, sequential, and cumulative manner. This means that each lesson builds upon the previous one, ensuring a solid foundation for future learning.

Personalized Instruction

I understand that every student is unique, which is why I provide individualized and diagnostic lessons. This means that I tailor my interventions to meet each student’s specific needs ensuring they are supported best.

Still have questions? We've got you covered

We're here to help your child, here is a bit more information about The Literacy Swan. If you still have questions contact us

How do you determine what my child's learning needs are?

Your child's strengths and areas for improvement are initially assessed through a comprehensive evaluation process. Following this assessment, each session is meticulously planned and tailored to address their individual needs based on thorough analyses of their previous sessions.

What is the length of a session?

Each session typically lasts approximately one hour, providing ample time for focused instruction and meaningful engagement. To ensure consistent progress and reinforcement of learning, two sessions per week are recommended.

What is the cost of each session?

Each session is priced at $100, covering a comprehensive review of past lessons, personalized preparation for upcoming sessions, and supplementary materials for home practice. This ensures support of your child's educational journey while providing excellent value for the investment.

What payment method do you currently accept?

Payment is required prior to each session and can be made conveniently via cash, Paypal, Venmo, or check, providing flexibility to suit your preferences and convenience. Please contact The Literacy Swan directly for further questions regarding method of payment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because each session is planned and tailored to meet your child’s individual needs, a 24-hour notice is requested if your child is not able to be present for their scheduled session. Of course, if an emergency or illness arises and 24-hour notice is not feasible, please notify me as soon as possible.
